What is LED Therapy?

LED Light Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to support the skin's natural cellular processes.

This process is known as photobiomodulation. Different wavelengths of light penetrate the skin at different depths and interact with cells in different ways. By selecting the appropriate light for your skin goals, LED therapy can be used to support skin rejuvenation, improve the appearance of blemish-prone skin, calm and soothe the complexion and encourage healthier-looking skin.

Unlike laser treatments, LED therapy does not work by deliberately heating or damaging the skin. It is also UV-free, so the treatment does not expose your skin to the ultraviolet light associated with sun damage.

Treatments are comfortable, non-invasive and require no downtime, making LED an ideal standalone treatment or an addition to selected Beauty Beam skin treatments.

Professional LED Treatments Tailored to Your Skin

At Beauty Beam, LED therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all treatment.

We use the professional Visagé Curve Pro II LED system, which allows different wavelengths and treatment programmes to be selected according to your individual skin concerns and treatment goals.

Depending on the treatment selected, different wavelengths of visible and near-infrared light can be used to target different skin goals — from supporting collagen production and skin rejuvenation to calming the complexion and supporting blemish-prone skin.

This means your LED treatment can be tailored according to what you want to achieve rather than simply providing the same light treatment for every client.

LED therapy can be booked as a standalone treatment, enjoyed as part of a regular skin-maintenance programme, or incorporated into selected Beauty Beam treatments where appropriate.

Discover the Different LED Wavelengths

Different wavelengths of LED light interact with the skin in different ways. At Beauty Beam, your treatment can be selected according to your individual skin concerns and the results you would like to achieve.

Red Light – Rejuvenate & Renew

Red LED light is commonly used for skin rejuvenation and healthy-ageing treatments. It supports cellular activity and can help promote collagen and elastin production, making it ideal for skin that is beginning to show signs of ageing or simply needs a revitalising boost.

Red light can help:

  • Support collagen and elastin production

  • Improve the appearance of fine lines

  • Support firmer, smoother-looking skin

  • Improve overall skin tone and texture

  • Encourage a brighter, healthier-looking complexion

  • Support the skin's natural repair processes

Ideal for: ageing, dull, tired or lacklustre skin and clients looking for general skin rejuvenation.

Blue Light – Clear & Balance

Blue LED light is particularly suited to oily and blemish-prone skin.

It can help target bacteria associated with breakouts while supporting a clearer and more balanced-looking complexion. Blue light treatments can be incorporated into a programme designed for clients experiencing congestion and blemishes.

Blue light can help:

  • Support blemish-prone skin

  • Help reduce breakout-causing bacteria

  • Improve the appearance of congested skin

  • Support a clearer-looking complexion

  • Help calm the appearance of active blemishes

  • Support a more balanced-looking skin environment

Ideal for: oily, congested and blemish-prone skin.

Yellow Light – Calm & Restore

Yellow LED light is a gentle option particularly suited to skin that appears sensitive, stressed or prone to redness.

It can be used to support the skin's natural recovery processes and promote a calmer, more comfortable-looking complexion.

Yellow light can help:

  • Calm and soothe the appearance of stressed skin

  • Reduce the appearance of temporary redness

  • Support sensitive-looking skin

  • Encourage a more even-looking complexion

  • Support the skin's natural recovery processes

  • Restore a fresher, healthier-looking appearance

Ideal for: sensitive, stressed or redness-prone skin and for selected post-treatment protocols.

Near-Infrared Light – Restore & Rejuvenate

Near-infrared light, often referred to as NIR, is invisible to the human eye and can penetrate more deeply than visible LED light.

NIR is used to support cellular activity and the skin's natural repair and rejuvenation processes. It can be particularly useful when the aim is to support overall skin health and recovery.

Near-infrared light can help:

  • Support cellular energy and activity

  • Encourage the skin's natural repair processes

  • Support collagen production

  • Promote healthier-looking skin

  • Complement skin rejuvenation treatments

  • Support skin recovery following selected professional treatments

LED therapy can be enjoyed as a standalone treatment or incorporated into our Carbon Laser Facial + LED combination treatment for clients looking for a more comprehensive skin-rejuvenation experience.

What to Expect During Your LED Treatment

Your Beauty Beam LED treatment is designed to be comfortable, relaxing and tailored to your skin.

Before your treatment, we'll discuss your skin concerns and what you would like to achieve. Your skin will then be prepared and the appropriate LED wavelength or treatment programme selected.

Protective eyewear will be provided where required and you'll simply relax while the LED light is positioned over the treatment area.

LED therapy is non-invasive and requires no downtime, so you can return to your normal activities following treatment.

For clients targeting a particular skin concern, a course of treatments may be recommended. LED can also be incorporated into selected Beauty Beam skin and laser treatments where appropriate.

LED Light Therapy FAQs

Does LED Light Therapy hurt?

No. LED light therapy is non-invasive and does not intentionally heat or damage the skin. Most clients find the treatment comfortable and relaxing.

Is there any downtime after LED therapy?

There is normally no downtime following a standalone LED treatment, making it easy to fit into your normal routine.

How many LED treatments will I need?

This depends on your skin and what you would like to achieve. LED can be enjoyed as an occasional skin boost, but a course of regular treatments may be recommended when targeting a specific concern.

How often can I have LED Light Therapy?

Treatment frequency will depend on your skin, the LED programme being used and whether LED is being provided as a standalone treatment or alongside another Beauty Beam treatment. We'll recommend an appropriate treatment plan for you.

What's the difference between LED and laser?

They are very different technologies. LED uses low-intensity light to support cellular processes without intentionally heating or damaging the skin. Laser treatments use concentrated light energy to target specific structures or concerns within the skin.

Can LED be combined with other treatments?

Yes. LED therapy can complement a number of professional skin treatments. At Beauty Beam, LED may be incorporated into selected treatment protocols where appropriate for your skin.

Is LED suitable for everyone?

LED therapy is suitable for many people, but not every treatment is appropriate for every client. Your suitability, medical history, medications and skin concerns will be considered before treatment.

Do I need to know which LED colour to book?

No. You don't need to choose a wavelength yourself. Your treatment can be selected according to your skin concerns and treatment goals.
